Percussion Audition Information
The FSYO has a rotating Percussion Section, which means student will rotate instruments for a complete experience. The Percussion serves the needs of all four orchestras in our program and as such, percussionists may split their Sunday afternoon rehearsal time between the various orchestras. The 2011-2012 season will run from mid-August to mid-May and rehearsals are held on Sunday afternoons, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. at College Park Baptist Church and at the Dr. Philllips Center for the Performing Arts.
Audition Requirements
Prepare the following for your audition:
- Percussion excerpts can be found below. Please pay close attention to the instructions on the excerpts.
- Students will audition on timpani, xylophone and snare drum. Instruments will be provided at the audition site.
- A one minute solo of your choice, that demonstrates your current level of playing.
How Do I Schedule an Audition?
Please complete and return the audition application, with your non-refundable audition fee of $35. Applications are due by April 25, 2011. Checks should be made out to FSYO and mailed with application to: FSYO PO Box 2328 Winter Park, FL 32790-2328
Once we receive your audition application and fee, you will be scheduled for an audition date and time. Letters with you scheduled audition information will be mailed the last week in April.
Not sure which orchestra is the right for you? Attend our Open House Rehearsal on Sunday, March 20, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. Symphonic Orchestra rehearsals are held at the Dr. Phillips Center for Performing Arts, located at 1111 N. Orange Ave. Orlando FL 32803. Our orchestra managers & conductors will be happy to answer your questions at the rehearsal break.
