The FSYO Experience

The beginning

Step 1: Student learns an instrument, excels and shows an interest in orchestra
Step 2: Student auditions for the FSYO
If accepted, student plays some of the greatest classical music with the best student musicians!

The middle

Once in the FSYO, a student will participate in one or more of the following ensembles depending on how long they spend in the program:

Overture strings
A training orchestra for students at a Suzuki book 2 level
Prelude
An intermediate orchestra that trains students in a full orchestra setting
Philharmonia
An advanced orchestra that performs above the average school program
Symphonic
A pre-professional orchestra that trains students for regional orchestras, conservatory programs, etc

The end

When students finish the FSYO, they have experienced:

Some of the best classical music ever written
A world-class education
Interaction with like-minded students
Gained life-long friendships

They have learned:

Leadership
Attention to details
The importance of team work
How to have confidence in themselves
