The FSYO Experience

The beginning

  1. Step 1: Student learns an instrument, excels and shows an interest in orchestra
  2. Step 2: Student auditions for the FSYO
  3. If accepted, student plays some of the greatest classical music with the best student musicians!

The middle

Once in the FSYO, a student will participate in one or more of the following ensembles depending on how long they spend in the program:

  • Overture strings
    A training orchestra for students at a Suzuki book 2 level
  • Prelude
    An intermediate orchestra that trains students in a full orchestra setting
  • Philharmonia
    An advanced orchestra that performs above the average school program
  • Symphonic
    A pre-professional orchestra that trains students for regional orchestras, conservatory programs, etc

The end

When students finish the FSYO, they have experienced:

  • Some of the best classical music ever written
  • A world-class education
  • Interaction with like-minded students
  • Gained life-long friendships

They have learned:

  • Leadership
  • Attention to details
  • The importance of team work
  • How to have confidence in themselves
