Sarah Morrison

Sarah Morrison is honored to serve as conductor of Florida Symphony Youth Orchestras Prelude Orchestra.

Ms. Morrison enjoys creating and performing music as an educator and violinist.  She is an active orchestra clinician and adjudicator and has conducted all-county and all-region orchestras throughout Florida in Polk, Pinellas, Collier, Hillsborough, Volusia, Orange, Palm Beach, Lee, and Duval counties, as well as in Knoxville, Tennessee. Ms. Morrison has served as conductor of FSYO's Prelude Orchestra from 2017-present, previously conducting FSYO’s Overture Strings from 2012-17. As an educator, she served as Chair of the Florida Orchestra Association Mentoring Committee from 2010-2019;  orchestra director at Rochelle School of the Arts, Lakeland, from 2006-14; Florida Southern College Summer String Camps conducting faculty in 2025; and FSU Summer Music Camps conducting faculty from 2008-16, directing the Chamber Orchestra and Amati/Guaneri Fiddle Ensemble. She has previously taught on the faculties of the Polk County Youth Symphony, the Stephen F. Austin University Summer Music Program, and the Tallahassee Symphony Youth Orchestra. Prior to teaching in Florida, Ms. Morrison directed orchestras at Crownover Middle School in Denton, Texas, from 2002-06, and served as elementary string specialist in the schools of Salem, Oregon. She currently enjoys teaching music, strings, and choir at Mi Escuela Montessori School, Lakeland, and has served as music teacher since the school’s opening in 2021.

Ms. Morrison holds a MME and MM in Violin Performance from Florida State University and a BA in Music and Humanities from Rollins College. As a violinist, she has performed with the Tallahassee Symphony, Bach Festival of Winter Park, and the Opera Theater of Lucca, Italy. She currently performs as a violinist with the Lakeland Symphony Orchestra and actively collaborates with area experimental musicians and artists. She enjoys going on adventures with her husband, Matt, who is also a music educator, and their eleven-year-old son, Sebastian, who is a cellist like his dad.
